Jakarta 2008 - Let Us Build
Nehemiah must have liked his job. His life was secure and his future was bright in Persian Kingdom because he had an important position and he was trusted by the King. (Neh 1:1)
But the news from his brothers shocked him. Coming from Judah, they told him how Judah was in great trouble and disgrace (Neh 1:3). The city of Jerusalem which was supposed to make its people become proud was in a disgrace condition. The wall was broken down and the gates had been burned with fire. Jerusalem was a defenseless city.
(From physical and spiritual views, this sounds like Jakarta).
Jakarta 2008
Jakarta 2008 is a partnership institution of many groups which have concern about the situation of society in Jakarta, and long for changes / transformation.
Jakarta 2008 doesn't intend to intervene or organize something which is currently present or is currently done by church / ministry organization. It intends to facilitate and act as a servant catalyst so that there is a connection in giving and receiving information and developing something which is currently done in order to do it optimally.
Seven Requisites of City's Transformation
Transformation is not human being's work. Even though God needs key people as His agents of transformation or city's transformer, God is still the main agent of transformation. As Psalm 127:1 said" Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain." Still, there are conditions that need to be met to make city's transformation happen.
