Transform World e-Newsletter :: June 2007
 | | | Volume 6, Year 2007 | | TRANSFORMATION CONNECTIONS SINGAPORE LAUNCHED Transformation Connections Singapore (TCS) was born with excitement and expectation for national revival and more. A group of about 35 leaders met with Dr Luis Bush and other leaders for transformation at the Garden Hotel on 11th and 12th of June 2007 to share and discern what the Lord is doing and desiring to do in our city nation. A vision was given to a member that it was the kairos moment. The heart-cry of senior members to see the glory of God, which is now upon us, was discerned and expressed, like Simeon in Luke 2:25-26. The prophetic conviction of “this is it” resounded with unanimity. So TCS was launched on the 11th of June 2007 – as it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to those of us present, with a deep sense of divine compulsion and urgency. We are partners in transformation and servants and agents of the Lord for transformation.

TCS is now on fire – transformation of individuals, of families, of our churches and communities, and of our nation and beyond. TCS is not an organization, and it will not compete with or criticize what God and His people are already doing. TCS will catalyze and connect creatively people and ministries for His Kingdom and glory. We believe the Holy Spirit will lead us as we seek His face together with our hearts united to be after His own heart for Singapore and the nations.
Many exciting possibilities surfaced during the discussions. The burning issue was the way forward: Where do we go from here? Right now, we can only see one step at a time. Our next step is to pray together, to hear and discern “what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” For this purpose we will meet on the 2nd of July 2007 from 2 to 5 pm at Orchard Tower Level 7. Please disseminate this information so that those with the heart for transformation can be there. May the Lord surprise us with joy and His glory!

Introduction
Transform World was the term chosen by the organizers of the first Transform World Event in Indonesia. Conveners of similar events in other nations have retained the term. Recognizing the level of commitment by Christian leaders in the nation and need for engagement in an ongoing process of transformation, the term TRANSFORMATION CONNECTION INDONESIA (TCI) was used to express the ongoing vision and mission in the country. Other regions of the world, nations and cities have now begun a process of transformation and adopted the term to their region. Examples include: Transformation Connection Silk Road, TC Bihar, TC Korea, and TC Surabaya.
After three years of conducting a WORLD INQUIRY it became clear that it was time to review the preliminary findings that God was on a mission of transformation in our world today. This clarity was found during a gathering of 120 servants of God from around the world in Seoul in May of 2003. The WORLD INQUIRY was a three-year journey of listening, in order to hear God’s voice through His servants, especially those who are now emerging onto their local and national scenes in the majority world.
A number of the participants from different countries decided to hold national catalytic events in their own nations, the first of which was to be Indonesia which led to Transform World Indonesia 2005. In preparations for the upcoming event Christian leaders from Africa and Latin America met with Indonesian leaders in Jakarta in February 2004.
As one of the steps to seek the heart of God on the matter the group decided in Jakarta to convene a global interest group of twelve respected Christian servants of God from the different continents of the world to hear from God regarding the growing number of transformational initiatives witnessed in the nations.
The Global Interest Group met September 7-9, 2004 in London with an open agenda. The group linked continents from around the world to the transformation theme for a time of sharing and seeking God for a united response of the body to the head of the Church, the Lord Jesus. Their findings were later presented at Transform World Indonesia in May 2005, reviewed and endorsed by the participants, becoming the first section of the Transformation Covenant as Covenantal Assumptions.
The findings of the three-year inquiry were presented at the WORLD EVANGELIZATION ISSUES FORUM in Pattaya Oct.-Nov. 2004 in the form of six books1 and summarized in the following three points:
- Our world is changing radically: demographically, economically, politically and religiously.
- The winds of change are swirling with great intensity around the Christian world at the beginning of the 21st Century.
- We are in the midst of a time of change in global missions represented by many emerging streams as well as converging movements of missions.
- A new epoch of missions is unfolding before our eyes at the beginning of the 21st Century.
- All the newness and mission initiatives out of mission fields of the past signals a new phase in missions.
- We appear to be at a new stage in the worldwide Christian movement.
- Transformation has become a unifying vision of the Church’s mission.
- Diverse streams of transformation are converging into one great river of transformation in which the people of God are moving with the power, the presence and the peace of God, resulting in the healing of the nations.
- God is calling his servants to act as catalysts of personal, family, church and cultural transformation so that compelled by the love of Jesus in obedience to his command to love our neighbor by the power of the Holy Spirit, the Body of Christ can become his agent of transformation, a transforming Church on a transforming mission, united to bless the nations to the glory of God the Father.
Six months later the first global Transform World event took place in Indonesia. As with other events subsequent events the initiative and the leadership and the resources came from the national hosts.

The National Prayer Committee of Indonesia along with churches and an association of Christian institutions in Indonesia organized TRANSFORM WORLD INDONESIA 2005, attended by 500 leaders from 55 nations.
The first overriding purpose was to celebrate the completion of sixteen years (1989–2005) of prevailing prayer. It did happen. The event ended with a four-hour prayer gathering in the national stadium attended by 112,000, broadcast into seventy seven cities with an estimated audience of more than five million. The next day prayer conference seminars with the theme of transformation continued with 3,000 delegates attending in Jakarta and with perhaps another 90,000 more attending in 56 other regional sites.
The second overriding purpose was to convene and connect many worldwide servants of God engaged in significant transformational ministries which became specific outcomes as follows:
TRANSFORM WORLD MANUAL - Communed with God in worship and prayer summits to seek the holiness of God, putting aside our individual and corporate agendas to seek the face of God and His Kingdom purposes for our time together and beyond.
- Collaborated with God’s servants engaged in transformational prayer for the cities of Indonesia, seeking to bless them as the nation and the peoples of Indonesia.
- Contributed to the focus group process to animate the focused domains, and to enhance God’s revealed Kingdom purposes of transformation.
- Covenanted with God and each other around a transformational covenant that would serve “as an altar” of our time together there! Amen!
One participant summarized the experience by saying: “The catalytic impact of our time arose out of a deep sense of spiritual brokenness and need in our Indonesian host brethren. This bathed the entire event in humility, which enabled the Lord to have his way. The warmth and graciousness with which the Indonesian hosts served us was a great testimony to God’s grace at work in their lives, and to the commitment of the Church in Indonesia to transformation.”
Others expressed how they had gained a sense of the global (big picture) synergy that is now happening, as God joins various streams into a larger river of transformation. The testimonies of God’s transformational work around the world were almost beyond belief. A great cultural diversity within the context of the Lord’s transforming global move was compelling.
On the final day of the event Canon James Wong from Singapore proposed to the participants that a small office be established based in Singapore to be called Transform World Connections to support ongoing related events and processes. With the affirmation of the participants of that first Transform World event a small board made up of Singaporean and Indonesian leaders primarily was established as a non-legal entity.
